FAQ

Registration Questions

Can I just come (and pay) for one day?

At TWIST we are always listening! And having heard that many who would like to come to TWIST08 cannot commit to the whole of our new long weekend format—we have decided to offer single day registrations for the first time. While we feel that attending the whole weekend will bring maximum benefit to participants, if you can only get there for one or two days then you can now register for $60 per day. (Please note: No group discounts are available for single days, nor can single day regos be added to existing regular or group bookings).

I have not received my registration tax invoice or confirmation email. What should I do?

If you have not received your TWIST Tax Invoice or TWIST Confirmation email after registration, please email info@twist.org.au with your TWIST registration number and we will resend you what you need.

Do you offer any subsidies or discounts?

Unfortunately not. We are a non-profit conference and our rates are aimed to meet costs as they are. Discounts or subsidies would impact us doing that.

If I have registered for TWIST, do I need to purchase an extra ticket to see the J is for Jesus Concert?

No. If you have registered for TWIST for the Sunday or for the entire weekend, your registration to the conference entitles you to see the J is for Jesus Concert.

Workshop & Instrument Questions

Is it helpful for all our band members to attend the band workshop?

Yes! The band workshop is designed to help everyone in the band know their role and help them to know what to play and when. In the past, churches have found these workshops are most useful when everyone in their regular music team attends together and hear the same message.

Can I do both the Piano workshops?

Yes. We have designed the piano workshops as a stream which build on each other. You can of course choose to do any of them individually.

Can I change my workshops after registration?

Yes. But only up until the close of registration, and only if there is still space in the workshop you would like to change into. Please email us with your request.

Do I need to bring my instrument/amplifier etc?

If you are in one of the band workshops, then yes! You will get more out of these times if you participate. We will provide drums and keyboards for the workshops, but not guitar or bass amps. If, however, you could help us by bringing a drum kit or good quality keyboard for the workshops then please indicate this on your registration form.

If I lend my keyboard or drum kit to the conference for the weekend, will it be safe?

Yes. All equipment will be locked in rooms when workshops are not running, and overnight. Keys are held by one member of the TWIST crew who will be responsible for locking doors. When workshops are on, equipment will be supervised by workshop leaders, who are all trained musicians and highly trusted by the TWIST Committee. TWIST delegates will not have access to the workshop rooms at any other time than when workshops are running.

If I loan my keyboard and drum kit to TWIST, can I leave these instruments at TWIST overnight?

Yes. When we are not using your instrument, ie. in main stage sessions, meal times or overnight, these loaned instruments are locked in the rooms.

Does the conference really need my keyboard or drum kit?

YES, very much so! We cannot run workshops well without equipment, and the TWIST Committee and workshop leaders do not have enough contacts to source the number of keyboards and drum kits required. We are very thankful to any delegates who can bring along their equipment for the weekend, and will treat the equipment with the utmost care.

As a delegate, can I store my instrument somewhere during the main sessions and meal times?

Yes. There will be a secure instrument storage service for all delegates to use. Instruments will be locked and looked after in secure rooms by crew during the conference. Storage of these instruments is only available during the conference but NOT overnight, delegates must collect their instruments at the end of the day. The secure instrument storage service opens at 8am and closes at 5pm on Saturday, Sunday and Monday.

Are there workshops that are not so focussed on doing congregational music but more on doing evangelistic performances?

Not this year. We do vary the workshop list from year to year and often do included sessions for solo performers. There is still a lot of choice for anyone interested in various aspects of music ministry however.

Kids Program Questions

What age does the kids program cater for?

The kids program caters for all school aged children—between the ages of 5 to 10.

Who is running the kids program?

The kids program is being run in partnership with the Year 13 program which is run by Youthworks. For more information about the Year 13 program, please check out their website.

What does the kids program involve?

The kids program will be running a series of activities including singing, craft, games, bible-based lessons and stories. The kids will also learn kids songs with the aim of having them perform an item in the main session (just like what we did at previous TWIST years). The program includes all meals throughout the conference.

How many kids will be at the program?

Spaces are limited. There are only 60 places available (first in first serve basis). Registration to the kids program is through the online registration process.

Are there any crèche facilities available at TWIST08?

We will have a nursing/crèche room available for nursing mothers and parents to use if required. The room will be unsupervised with no play equipment, it will be open for general use. At this stage, there are no plans to have any audio or visual link to the main sessions in this room. We would encourage parents of non-kids program aged children to consider making alternative arrangements rather than bringing toddlers or babies to TWIST as the main sessions will be 1.5 to 2 hours long and we are not equipped at this stage to run a crèche program.
